Intermediate Architect


The Intermediate Architect must manage multiple architectural projects simultaneously and make sure that plans and specifications are prepared in compliance with applicable laws, standards and the relevant Building Code. They will support junior members of the team by answering both technical questions as well as practical questions regarding the full completion of architectural projects. Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Intermediate Architect must have a good technical knowledge of building systems, materials and details, as well as the complete administration of an architectural project. The Intermediate Architect must possess great people skills and be diplomatic and respectful in interactions with clients, external collaborators and members of the team.
The Intermediate Architect must be registered with the OAA or OAQ. This recruitment process will also consider candidates with an architectural technologist background, as long as sufficient experience and knowledge can be demonstrated.


  • Proven experience in an architectural setting
  • Management of several projects simultaneously and responsible for ensuring their delivery
  • Communicate with the Client and various stakeholders and attend / lead meetings
  • Provide technical and practical support to the less experienced members of the team
  • Conduct / coordinate inspections and surveys
  • Prepare / review plans, technical details of construction and specifications on various standard architectural software
  • Write / review reports and official documents
  • Check laws, standards and codes
  • Provide / review cost estimates
  • Construction contract administration
  • Assist management with the creation of training materials and protocols for architectural staff


  • Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken
  • University diploma in architecture
  • Minimum of 5 years of architectural experience
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision, prioritize customer service and enjoy teamwork
  • Proven skills in the management and training of resources
  • Well-rounded experience in a variety of architectural projects
  • Be enthusiastic, organized, autonomous, versatile and proactive
  • Demonstrate pedagogy and patience
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, MS Office suite
  • Control of the various relevant codes and regulations (QBC, OBC, NBC, municipal by-laws, CSA and others)
  • Membership from a professional order (OTPQ, OAQ, OAA) or any other certification is an asset
  • Experience in project management an asset, including coordination of various disciplines
  • Experience in project administration an asset, including estimation, opening of file, procurement and construction contract administration
  • Driving licence (Class 5) and ownership of their own vehicle is an asset

Job Characteristics :

Full time, permanent, 40h/week
Salary: annual, to be discussed according to experience, $65,000.00 – $75,000.00
Mileage and parking at employer’s expense
